چکیده

Abstract Background Preeclampsia is characterized by an excessive inflammatory response. Recent studies have shown that vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) has anti-inflammatory properties in vivo. This study aims to investigate whether VNS safe for use during pregnancy and explore the therapeutic potential underlying mechanisms of PE. Methods Pregnant Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly chosen receive N-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME)-containing water (preeclampsia-like mouse model) or saline (normal control) daily at gestational days 14.5–20.5. α7nAChR antagonist methyllycaconitine citrate (MLA, 1 mg/kg/d) given same time. Results decreased high systolic blood pressure urinary protein observed PE rats. In addition, mitigated abnormal outcomes. Moreover, alleviated response decreasing levels cytokines. significantly increased expression attenuated activation NF-κB p65 placenta. Discussion Our findings indicate maternal treatment a protective effect pregnant rat model preeclampsia induced L-NAME.

Magnetically induced vagus nerve stimulation and feeding behavior in rats.

Vagus nerve (VN) contribute to the bidirectional communication between the gastrointestinal tract and the central nervous system. Stimulation of the VN by a magnetically-driven solenoid with parameters similar to those during food-induced stomach distension has been thought to mimic short-term signaling of satiety and suppress food intake. In this study, the determination of optimal parameters ...

PPARγ Upregulation Induced by Vagus Nerve Stimulation Exerts Anti-Inflammatory Effect in Cerebral Ischemia/Reperfusion Rats

BACKGROUND It is well known that peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ), a ligand-activated transcription factor, plays a protective role in anti-inflammatory responses in both acute and chronic central nerve system (CNS) insults. Emerging evidence in rats suggests that vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), while restraining inflammatory cytokine production in the peripheral nervous ...

Hemodynamic responses to aortic depressor nerve stimulation in conscious L-NAME-induced hypertensive rats.

The present study investigated whether baroreflex control of autonomic function is impaired when there is a deficiency in NO production and the role of adrenergic and cholinergic mechanisms in mediating reflex responses. Electrical stimulation of the aortic depressor nerve in conscious normotensive and nitro-l-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME)-induced hypertensive rats was applied before and after...

Anti-Inflammatory Effects of Acupuncture Stimulation via the Vagus Nerve

Although acupuncture therapy is widely used in traditional Asian medicine for the treatment of diverse internal organ disorders, its underlying biological mechanisms are largely unknown. Here, we investigated the functional involvement of acupuncture stimulation (AS) in the regulation of inflammatory responses. TNF-α production in mouse serum, which was induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) admin...
